European Union witholding tax law

In the past, people have used Swiss Banks to avoid taxation in their home countries. Due to pressure from the EU, Switzerland, from July 1st 2008, has charged a ‘witholding tax’ on all interest earned in personal Swiss accounts of EU residents.
