Information concerning numbered accounts is handled only by senior bank officers, thus affording an extra degree of privacy.
The information required to open a numbered account, however, is the same information as for a normal account; completely anonymous accounts are prohibited by Swiss law. In the event of a criminal investigation, law enforcement has access to information related to a numbered account in the same way it would have to an ordinary one.
